11/14/2008 THREE DEE REALMS For Everyone! Again! |
|
Ok, here’s a big mega-update to keep you up on what’s happening over here at YoRo Headquarters. In October we unveiled our new series of art prints called Three Dee Realms, at blink! gallery. The series consists of 9 hand screen-printed, anaglyphic (red/blue) 3D images of fantasy landscapes, realms and worlds. The show opened as a part of Nocturne, and the response was amazingly overwhelming! Over 1000 people came through the gallery that night, and it was amazing for us to see so many people walking around, wearing the 3D glasses and smiling! The show has now been moved over to the top level of Argyle Fine Art, where it will stay for another month. Tonight, Chris Smith’s group show “Repixx” opens in the main space at Argyle, so go check that out if you can and while you’re there, take a look upstairs. 3D glasses are available in the gallery for viewing. The work is for sale through Argyle, and the prints are selling fast. Here are some photos from our opening at blink!.
What else? Ummmm… We’re working on a few new series, including one very special one which we will reveal soon… when the time is right. We have some holiday themed ideas too, so expect some good xmas gift items coming up in the next little while. Paul did an interview with Simon Thibault on CKDU 88.1FM but we can’t find it anywhere online right now. When we do, we’ll post it here. You can see all the work from Three Dee Realms, in small jpg form in the Fine Art section of our portfolio. And if you have 3D glasses of your own, put them on and get the full, tiny, online experience! And finally, we just wanted to say thanks to everyone who voted for us again in this year’s Best Of Halifax Reader’s Poll by The Coast. This is our 4th year being awarded the honour of Best Visual Artist, and we really appreciate it! Thanks for all the support, all you lovely people out there! If we win again next year, maybe we can retire into the hall of fame! Keep it Soliddd!!! Peace. |

06/30/2008 A Le Platine! |
|
Hey Hey! Our excellent friend Sam Murdock of P572 in Quebec City set up a lovely show for us at Le Platine, and everything is going just great. Thanks to everyone who came to support us. Despite our online store still being a little… how you say…. broken… you can still browse our posters and prints in our portfolio, and send us an email about purchasing stuff you like. We will respond quickly and politely! That’s a promise! Anyway, stuff’s cooking, summer’s awesome and we’ve got lots of fun projects in the works. That’s all for now. Talk to you later, dooodz! |

05/27/2008 Obey Yo Rodeo. |
|
What’s up doodles? We had a show opening at Lost & Found in Halifax, as a part of the awesome Obey Convention weekend that just passed. Tonnes of awesome bands played, notably Career Suicide, Nadja, Shearing Pinx, Scribbler, Attack Mode, Special Noise, final sets by Be Bad and Die Brucke) and lots more. The whole weekend was amazing and we want to thank Divorce Records for putting it on, and including us in the festivities. We also did the posters for the events. Our show is still up for the rest of the month, so check it out if you’re in the neighbourhood! |

01/03/2008 Happy 2008! This book is AMAZING!!! |
|
This book is unbelievable! Thanks to Paul’s parents for ordering it online as a radical xmas present, especially considering that they likely came up with some inappropriate google responses in the process. There’s so much awesome, inspirational text ideas in this book, by tonnes of amazing artists and designers. Hand drawn type for life! UNRELATED: YoRodeo has a swank new studio that we’re in the process of organizing, and getting together. We’re sharing with another rad designer/screenprinter, Stephen “Hello Daylight” Bishop. We’ll post some pictures soon of the new space, but one thing’s for sure: 2008 is the year YoRodeo goes full time! Get ready to be punched in the face with more art than you can handle. |

10/02/2007 ZINELAB! YoRodeo! Poster Show in London ON. |
|
We’re having a show in London Ontario! (My home-town) It’s a part of the ZineLab series of workshops put on by London-pal and art friend Jennifer Robertson. We’re the featured artists (oooh) in an exhibit that includes work made by students in various zine and printed-matter related workshops, which is pretty cool. We’ll be showing around 50 posters, including this fancy one that we just finished making for the show itself. Also, our pal Thesis Sahib…. is playing the opening, along with some of his other rap-friends. Sweeet. The official opening is on Thursday October 25th from 8:30 - 11:00pm. (at the ArtLab space, in the John Labatt Centre at UWO) If you’re in London, please come and say hi! I’ll be there. Seth won’t be, because he’s on tour with Dog Day right now. xo Paul |

06/28/2007 Brand New Website! YoRodeo is online! |
|
We’ve finally got our website up and running, with the help of awesome dude Nick Wilton, who did all the real work for us. This will change the face of YoRodeo. Or something. We’ll be updating fairly regularly, so you can keep coming back to check out what’s new, and what we’re working on and stuff. The news section (this section here) will be updated regularly, and we’ll be adding stuff to the portfolio as we pump it out. We just added a logo design that we did for a fundraiser called Sandra’s Second Wind. It’s in the “Other Stuff” section. You should check it out.
Also, the store is still being worked out, and so are a few other small things, but we’ll let you know when everything’s all ready and perfect. Should be very soon. Wow, the internet is exciting. It’s like it just never stops!
Cooooool! Paul and Seth. |
